2.3GW of new solar projects as part of efforts to reduce energy production from coal in Greece

Photovoltaic parks  of accumulated power of 2.3GW are expected to be developed in Greece as part of a €5 billion scheme for the phase-out of coal generation by 2028. The Greek Public Power Corporation  is planning the construction of solar facilities in the Macedonia region as well as 0.5GW of parks in the Peloponnese. Hellenic Petroleum will also develop a €130 million solar project under the scheme.Those investments were revealed earlier this week by Greece’s energy minister Kostis Hatzidakis.
